The Spark of Life is the title of Prof Frances Ashcroft's book about electricity in the body. Here she is interviewed by fellow University of Oxford academic Prof Denis Noble. They discuss the science of how ions transmit electricity through the body, as well as the more poetic aspects of electricity including Michelangelo's Creation of Adam, Mary Shelley's inspiration for Frankenstein and modern poets.
