Amanda Brookfield talks about her new role as Visitor in the Creative Arts at University College, University of Oxford. Interviewed by Voices from Oxford Director, Dr Sung Hee Kim, she outlines how she came to accept the post and the kind of events she’s organised. Having previously worked in journalism and advertising, Amanda also details her transition to authoring novels, her creative writing process, and her love of EM Forster.
Amanda was one of the first female undergraduates to study at Univ, in 1979. She discusses how the college and university have changed, yet still retained features vital to the nurturing and education of their students. She also emphasises the importance of the Creative Arts, especially in an age of increasing reliance on algorithms, AI and automation.
