Prof Alex Halliday is Head of Mathematical, Physical and Life Sciences Division at the University of Oxford, as well as a professor at the Department of Earth Sciences. He uses isotope geochemistry to understand the origins of planets and the present day natural behaviour of the Earth by utilising mass spectrometry to measure small natural variations in atomic abundance.
