Dr Brian Ball
Lecturer in Philosophy, Balliol College, University of Oxford

I am Brian Ball. I’m a Lecturer in Philosophy at Balliol College, Oxford, and at the New College of the Humanities, London.  I work primarily in the philosophy of language, epistemology, metaphysics, and the philosophy of mind. My philosophical interests are quite broad, however, and I teach in a range of further areas as well.  The central philosophical topic with which my research is concerned is that of the intentionality of language and the metaphysics of meaning – though I have written on a range of further issues in theoretical philosophy as well, including the normativity of speech acts, and the natures of knowledge and justification.  I have taught philosophy at a number of institutions (McGill, Oxford, NCH), in a number of forums (lectures, seminars, tutorials/supervisions), and in a range of areas.
