How does a young woman convince an elderly, male dominated boardroom to
adopt a successful social media strategy at a time when most people
hadn’t even heard of Facebook or Youtube? With passion, confidence and
the drive to succeed.
Sharon Cheung is a former journalist, Reuters Fellow at Oxford
University and an expert on self branding. In this conversation with Dr
Sung Hee Kim, also from Oxford University, she tells the story of how
she worked as a journalist with Chinese presidents Jiang Zemin and Hu
Jintao, reporting on events from across the world. Following her career
in journalism, Sharon worked for a major media conglomerate convincing
the boardroom to adopt an aggressive social media strategy at a time
when social media was in its infancy.
Now a successful entrepreneur as CEO of her own business, Sharon’s
passion is for self branding, and she teaches university students how to
maximise their potential in the fast paced, globalised world in which
we now live.
