Eminent University of Oxford mathematical physicist Sir Roger Penrose explains the importance of drawing to his work and thinking. He uses complex yet beautiful drawings to illustrate his books on mathematics and cosmology, and shows how even a simple sketch can be in 4-D, representing both space and time. He also discusses how drawing enables him to explain difficult concepts, and his wish to see drawing given a higher profile in schools. The video was shown at the launch of the Big Draw held in the Weston Library, University of Oxford, and has an introduction by Prof Denis Noble.
