Dame Helen Ghosh, Master of Balliol College, University of Oxford delivers a welcome message. She talks of her time as a student at the University of Oxford, as well as her former careers in the Civil Service and at The National Trust. Dame Helen outlines her initial priority as one of listening, and thanks those Balliol Alumni who completed a survey on how best to move the college forward. She also outlines her reasons for choosing Oxford and Balliol, describing her interest in working with young people, and tackling the current issues of austerity, globalisation and Brexit in the context of higher education. The new Master thanks her predecessor, Sir Drummond Bone, and mentions the important work of completing the new Balliol student accommodation development, and financially securing the future of the Career Development Fellows.
