Voices from Oxford is sponsored by The Music of Life. This event at Sheffield University formed part of a series on Arts-Science Encounters. Entertaining stories from The Music of Life related by Denis Noble are interwoven with performances of relevant pieces of classical guitar music by the world-class performer, Christoph Denoth. During the performance, they interact in a humourous discussion of the metaphor of music in science and end up performing a duo together. The event takes place in the elegant lecture theatre of St George’s Church and it was sponsored by the Kroto Research Institute and the Humanities Research Institute of Sheffield University. Sir Harry Kroto (Nobel laureate in Chemistry), who founded the Kroto Institute, was present, and an interview with him will soon appear in a trailer video.
