Trio discussion between two professors and a student on how best to fuse the best of eastern and western educational methods and strategies. Prof Youmin Xi is President of Xi’an Jiaotong Liverpool University, Suzhou China, and discusses the topic with Prof Denis Noble, University of Oxford, and Michael Li, President of the Oxford Union. They interact over the relationship between the United Kingdom and China, and examine the stability, flexibility and economy of China. They also analyse how Prof Xi fuses the best of western and Chinese educational methods, the new directions of education at university level, and how curriculum design throughout the world should be changed to create both the specialists necessary for the increasingly silo-like nature of 21st century academia, as well as the generalists to bring it all back together again through increasing interdisciplinarity.
