Lecture at Swansea University given by Professor Denis Noble, Emeritus Professor of Cardiovascular Physiology at the University of Oxford. Prof Noble starts by talking about the blind watch maker and how that represents the processes that generate change in organisms which can be in inherited are totally blind to function.
Following this Denis compares the 20th century reductive approach in biological and medical science to the 21st century integrative approach as well as how organisms harness stochasticity to produce function. Prof Noble concludes his lecture by answering the question, is the watch maker blind or was he one eyed?
