Department of Astrophysics
Jo Dunkley is a lecturer in Astrophysics at the University of Oxford. Her research is in cosmology, studying the origins and evolution of the universe.
Her work involves determining properties of the universe such as its
rate of expansion, its age, and the nature of Dark Matter and Dark
Energy. In particular, she studies the Cosmic Microwave Background,
light that has been traveling since shortly after the Big Bang. Her
research combines theoretical work with statistical analysis, to extract
new information about the universe from cosmological observations. She
is part of the science teams for the Planck and WMAP space satellites,
and for the Atacama Cosmology Telescope in Chile.
She teaches undergraduate and graduate physics students, and is a
tutorial fellow at Exeter College in Oxford. She is funded by the
European Research Council, and STFC.
