Andrew Rattue, Principal of St Clare’s, Oxford discusses their Model United Nations event held at Oxford Town Hall. Over 100 St Clare’s students from the International Baccalaureate course representing over 45 different nations gathered together to discuss and debate issues in a similar fashion to the real UN in New York. After overwhelming voting to legalise euthanasia in a plenary debate, the students broke out into six separately themed sessions. Andrew Rattue emphasises how the Model UN is central to the core mission of St Clare’s: to foster international understanding between students from around the world.
