Prof William James from the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology, University of Oxford, introduces a stem cell workshop held for pupils from three local secondary schools: Matthew Arnold School, Oxford; Icknield Community College, Watlington; and Wood Green School, Witney. The pupils take part in various activities to expand and deepen their understanding of stem cells, and discuss with the Dunn School scientists the possibilities for their use in medical science, and options for pursuing careers in science. The pupils talk of their enjoyment of the workshop, how it has benefited their science education and encouraged them to consider careers in science. The workshop was held in conjunction with Science Oxford, a local charity which seeks to improve science education in the city and surrounding areas.
